The Man who took back Sri Ram Janmbhumi in 1949- The iconic District Magistrate of Ayodhya Shri K K.K.Nair

KKK Nair was an Indian Civil Servant, Politician, and Social Activist who played a  towering role in the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement in Ayodhya.

He was the District Magistrate of Faizabad (now Ayodhya) in 1949, when the idols of Sri Rama and Sita were "miraculously" planted by The Holy River  Saryu at Janmsthan.

Eye witness accounts in Court speak about Nair's complete planning and execution of establishing Sri Ram Lalla at Janmsthan. A charismatic man he coopted the entire Govt Machinery to take back Sri Ram Janmbhumi for all Hindus in the wee hours of the 23rd of Dec 1949.

Nair refused to obey the orders of the then Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, to remove the idols from the site. He argued that the idols had been placed there by Hindus and that they had a right to worship there. This led to a legal battle over the ownership of the site, which lasted for decades.

Nair was a staunch advocate for the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He resigned from the Indian Civil Service in 1952 to join the Bharatiya Jan Sangh, a Political Party that was committed to the construction of the Temple many years later.  He was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, in 1962 along with his Iconic Parliamentarian wife Smt Shakuntala Nair.

Nair continued to fight for the construction of the Ram Temple until his death in 1977. He is considered to be one of the most important figures in the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement in Hindu History.
