Lalit Suri (1946-2006) was an iconic Indian Hotelier & Politician. He was the Chairman & Managing Director of The Bharat Hotels Ltd (Lalit Suri Hospitality Group), one of the leading privately owned hotel chains in India. He was also a Member of Parliament, representing Uttar Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha.

Suri was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in 1946. He graduated from the Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi and then went on to study Automobile Engineering in England. After returning to India, he dabbled in a few interests before he took over the leadership of Bharat Hotels Ltd, which was then a single Hotel Company'. 

Under Suri's leadership, Bharat Hotels grew rapidly and expanded into new markets. Lalit Suri also diversified the Group's business interests to include Travel and Tourism, Education, Aviation & Automobile Air-conditioning. 

He was known for his pioneering & innovative ideas as an Entrepreneur and also his unwavering commitment to his Hospitality Division where he was able to create an unparalleled range of hospitality products & services for his guests with a luxurious and memorable experience.

In addition to his business interests, Suri was also active in politics. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2002 and served as a Member of Parliament until his death in 2006. 

Lalit Suri was a visionary businessman and a pioneer in the Indian hospitality industry. He is credited with transforming Bharat Hotels into one of the leading hotel chains in the country. He was also a philanthropist and a supporter of various social and cultural causes.
